About Me

I was born July 8, 2008 at 12:16 in the afternoon, and I was just over 7 lbs. I had some trouble breathing when I first arrived, and I had to stay in the hospital for a little while. I'm all better though and now I live in Collegeville, PA with my Mommy and Daddy, Peter & Meghan McKenney. I think they're the best and I love them! I really love my dogs Mickey and Rory. I like to watch them play - they make me laugh. I love my grandparents and all my aunts and uncles and cousins, and I hope they enjoy hearing all about my growing up and being Maddie Jane. I am getting bigger and smarter every day and soon I will be going shopping with Mommy and getting my nails done. In the meantime, I really like pink, and I love Mickey and Minnie mouse, and my Horton. Stay tuned for what's next!! XO

The First One

Today is a day for firsts... To start off, today is our first blog (Me & Mommy). We saw another cute baby's blog today (Thanks, Jack!) and we thought we would join in on the fun! Mommy is home with me now, so she has plenty of time.;-)

As I mentioned, it is a day for many new beginnings, like this afternoon when I had my first vegetable - sweet potatoes! I will be 6 months old tomorrow, so Mommy thinks I'm ready. I was a little unsure of this new foreign substance, and I made funny faces when Mommy fed it to me. She laughed, but I didn't think it was so funny. I had more sweet potatoes for dinner, mixed with some rice cereal, and I decided that it's not so bad after all. Mommy was really hoping I would like them because she said I'm having sweet potatoes for the next 2-3 days..but then I get to try something new again! I can't wait.
After lunch, Mommy read me a book in my room and I sat up by myself for almost the entire story! That's a first for me! Mom was so proud, and she helped me back up when I would tip over. Soon, I'll be sitting up all by myself and I won't even need Mommy's help. Then, it's on to crawling!

I've also discovered how to shake my head back and forth. Mommy says that means "no", but I'm not really sure. I know it makes her laugh when she asks me a question and I shake my head "no." She said I need to learn to nod my head yes now.
I can't wait to show Daddy everything I can do when he comes home tomorrow! He had to go away for work this week, and me and Mommy really miss him. I want to tell him how Mommy set off the fire alarms trying to make grilled cheese, too. He thinks it's funny when she tries to cook.
Anyway, I have to go to get going. Yo Gabba Gabba is coming on, and then I have to get a bath and go to bed.
Talk to you again soon!

  2. Maddie,
AWESOME! Uncle Scottie doesn't like sweet potatoes so if your mommy insists that you eat them for several days in a row and you get tired of them, let me know and I will make some mashed potatoes. Also I am so glad that you are sitting up. Soon you will be able to crawl far far away when your mommy cooks. Take it from me, your Dad knows what he is doing in the kitchen. I'll keep an eye out for more updates.

  3. Well Maddie it has been a while since you and Uncle Scottie have gotten to chat. I see you have been VERY busy and not able to blog about all of your awesome days with your friends. I guess I will look forward to a future visit and catching up soon. Tell your mommy that mullets are for hockey players and that even though you look adorable there will be a time when you should get to pick your own style for your hair. I know when I was little my mommy gave me a bad hairdo or two so no worries.
